No modem sync

If the DSL modem’s Sync Light is out or flashing it means there is an interruption in the DSL signal to the modem.

The most likely cause is interference from a phone on the line.  All phones must have DSL filters connected.  Also, any satellite television or security systems that use a phone line connection must be filtered.  If all phones have filters, each phone should be unplugged one at a time from the wall jacks to test if any of the filters are bad.  If all phones are unplugged and the modem is the only device plugged into the line, it is likely an internal or external wiring issue.  To rule out internal wiring the modem can be plugged into the Network Interface Device (NID) box usually located on the outside of the residence.  Instructions on the NID can be found here: http://www.decommunications.com/home_sol/repair/nid_test.php.   If there is no sync at the NID, D&E Tech Support must be contacted.
