Speed Calling lets you dial frequently called numbers quickly and easily. Just press one or two buttons, and your phone does the dialing. No delays, no hassles, no wrong numbers. Speed Calling 8 lets you store a short list of eight important numbers; Speed Calling 30 gives you an extended list of up to 30 numbers. With either plan, you only have to store the numbers once to have Speed Calling available on all your phones.

To enter or change your Speed Calling list:

  1. Pick up the handset, and listen for the dial tone.
  2. If you have Speed Calling 8, press *74. (On a rotary phone, dial 74, and wait four seconds.) If you have Speed Calling 30, press *75. (On a rotary phone, dial 75, and wait four seconds.)
  3. Listen for the dial tone.
  4. For Speed Calling 8, press or dial one of your eight one-digit Speed Calling codes (they are 2 through 9). For Speed Calling 30, press or dial one of your 30 two-digit speed codes (they are 20 through 49).
  5. Press or dial the phone number you want to assign to that speed code. (For calls outside the 717 area code, remember to include "1" plus the area code.)
  6. Press the # button. (On a rotary phone, just wait four seconds.)
  7. Listen for the two "beeps" confirming that the number has been entered; then hang up.
  8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 for additional numbers you wish to enter or change.

To dial a Speed Calling number:

  1. Pick up the handset, and listen for the dial tone.
  2. Press or dial the appropriate one- or two- digit speed code you’ve assigned to the phone number you’re calling. We recommend keeping a list of your Speed Calling codes beside each of your telephones.
  3. Press the # button. (On a rotary phone, just wait four seconds.) Your call will be dialed automatically.
