Distinctive Ring

With Distinctive Ringing, you can have as many as two additional numbers assigned to a single incoming phone line – with a distinctive ringing pattern for each number, so you know the purpose or intended recipient of each call before you answer. It’s a good way to separate all types of personal calls … or to identify calls from family or special friends. Teenagers can even have their own distinctive ring, so parents won’t have to become their answering service.

  1. Wait until the full ringing pattern is complete before answering your telephone, so you’ll know which number was dialed.
  2. If you have both Call Waiting and Distinctive Ringing, the Call Waiting “beeps” use the same patterns as the Distinctive Ringing – to help you decide whether to interrupt your current conversation to answer the incoming call.

Note: Although you may have up to three telephone numbers assigned to your line with Distinctive Ringing, you still have only one line, so only one conversation can be held at a time.
