Press Release
D&E COMMUNICATIONS, INC. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 4, 2005 | NEWS RELEASE CONTACT PERSON: |
EPHRATA, PA -- D&E Jazzd Internet Service recently launched a faster Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) speed of up to 5 Mbps, to meet growing customer demand for high-bandwidth applications such as music downloading.
The new DSL service, with a download speed of up to 5 megabits-per-second, is available in parts of D&E Telephone Company's service territory in northern Lancaster County. It also features an upload speed of up to 512 kilobits-per-second, which is especially useful for customers who play online games.
"We continuously look for ways to help our customers get the most from their broadband Internet connection," said Sharon Ramp, Consumer Marketing Manager for D&E. "Faster connection speeds allow our customers to more easily transfer files and download music. This new service can benefit everyone from parents who work at home to their children who compete in online gaming."
The new, faster DSL option creates a third level of service available from D&E. The company also offers a 1.5 Mbps DSL service. For dial-up Internet customers who are considering upgrading to broadband, D&E Jazzd offers an "entry-level" DSL service, with a speed of 256 Kbps. DSL allows subscribers to access the Internet and talk on the phone at the same time, all through a single phone line. Higher-speed DSL is available in limited service territories, based on how far a potential subscriber lives from telephone company facilities.
Customers can also save money through convenient "bundled" service packages that combine DSL Internet access and custom calling features, including voice mail, caller ID, call waiting and a service that blocks telemarketing calls.
