D&E Employees in the News

12-22-08 - D&E Communications' Employees Win T-Shirt Contest While Participating in the American Heart Association 2008 Heart Walk.

EPHRATA, PA - This year's Heart Walk, which was held in October, brought more than eighty teams to the streets to walk for heart disease. Over thirty D&E Communications employees and their families sported blue t-shirts designed by Malinda Saunders and Jaime Walker, both Graphic Designers in D&E's Marketing Department.

During the walk teams were judged on their creative t-shirts. In the end, D&E who has never won 1st place before, took the traveling plaque home.

"The t-shirt was an effort on both our parts", said Jaime Walker, "we started with two designs that we merged together to create the winning shirt."

Participating in the walk for more than ten years, D&E Employees take pride in raising money for heart disease. This year alone they were able to raise over $4,000 by holding company fundraisers and contributing themselves.

Fundraisers that D&E held throughout its office included a pet photo contest, raffles, and Doggie Days. The Doggie Days were hotdog lunches provided by the employee walkers and all proceeds went directly to the cause.

Paulla Leid, in D&E's Accounting Department, was also recognized as a 2008 Top Walker. This award is given to walkers who provide donations that exceed $500.

D&E Communications also contributed to the American Heart Association 2008 Heart Walk by being a Heart Saver Corporate sponsor.
